Powering the Future: IBD’s Vision for OPES 2026

Powering the Future: IBD’s Vision for OPES 2026

As IBD marks its 20th anniversary and prepares to participate as a Floor Layout Sponsor at OPES 2026, we do so with a clear sense of purpose and commitment to Oman’s evolving energy sector. OPES is one of the Sultanate’s most influential platforms for industry collaboration and strategic dialogue.

For us, it is an opportunity to strengthen long-standing partnerships, showcase the full breadth of our capabilities, and reaffirm our commitment to Oman’s energy future. Our journey has always been built around two principles: introducing applicable new technology to market and delivering excellence through partnership.

A Sector in Transformation — and the Opportunities It Creates

The energy sector is undergoing a structural evolution centered on three priorities: maximizing efficiency in existing oil and gas infrastructure, accelerating renewable power, particularly solar and wind, while building resilient and localized supply chains. In Oman, this is closely aligned with Vision 2040, where economic diversification, in-country value (ICV), and industrial growth are central pillars of national strategy.

We see compelling investment opportunities across renewable infrastructure, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), flare gas recovery, gas field development, and petrochemical expansion. Oman’s partnership-driven model rewards companies that combine international technical expertise with trusted local execution capabilities, precisely what IBD has built over the past two decades.

Operational Strength and Digital Enablement

IBD Group’s contribution rests on two pillars. Our core operations include engineered equipment supply, project delivery & commissioning, and industrial maintenance, all of which continue to serve the sector’s daily requirements. We represent a strong portfolio of global principals across rotating equipment, static equipment, specialty chemicals, wellheads & artificial lift, power generation, and ICT.

Equally, we are investing in the sector’s future. Through our ICT division and strategic collaboration with Digatex, we are deploying AI-enabled engineering and documentation solutions that improve asset data accuracy, streamline engineering workflows, and enhance operational efficiency across project lifecycles. Digital enablement is no longer optional — it is a key driver for competitiveness and sustainable growth. We will be presenting this at an OPES Talk session during the event.

Advancing Sustainability — Practically

While conventional energy remains essential to regional growth, sustainability is becoming an increasingly important dimension of future project development. IBD Group is actively supporting flare gas reduction, carbon management, energy efficiency, and selected energy transition opportunities, including enhanced oil recovery through CO₂ injection and emerging hydrogen and ammonia developments aligned with Oman’s diversification plans. Our approach is pragmatic: integrating lower-emission technologies where they deliver clear operational and commercial value.

Our Message at OPES 2026

IBD Group is a long-term, trusted partner for Oman’s current energy operations and its future growth. We are fully aligned with Vision 2040 and committed to supporting digitalisation, decarbonisation, and in-country value creation. For us, OPES 2026 is not just about visibility; it is about strengthening market relationships, enabling technology transfer, and exploring the next chapter of growth together with our clients, partners, and the wider energy community.
